"Love Story" has sold over six million copies in the U.S. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it eight-times platinum. In the U.S., the single peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first country song to reach number one on the Mainstream Top 40. "Love Story" peaked atop the chart in Australia, where it was certified ten-times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), and reached the top five on charts in Canada, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Scotland, and the UK. In retrospect, critics have considered it one of Swift's best singles. Produced by Swift and Nathan Chapman, the midtempo country pop includes a key change after the bridge and uses acoustic instruments including banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar.Īt the time of its release, music critics praised the production but deemed the literary references ineffective. The lyrics narrate a troubled romance that ends with a marriage proposal, contrary to Shakespeare's tragic conclusion. Inspired by a boy who was unpopular with her family and friends, Swift wrote the song using William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet as a reference point. It was released as the lead single from her second studio album, Fearless, on September 15, 2008, by Big Machine Records. Hey, I love technical stuff, too, but I think you can agree that the technicality in GOOD music is a means to an end, y'know? I love Obscura, Brain Drill, Anomalous, and lots of other tech-death types, plus more bizarre mathcore types along the lines of old Dillinger." Love Story" is a song by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift. One of my favorite pieces of music, Bach's Partita in Dm, is completely in 4/4.as are many other complex classical pieces. To them it would mostly sound like noise. But, I think stuff like Dream Theater can be enjoyed based on their sound and their technicality and bridge the gap between the two.And about writing music, I don't see a problem with writing it like a math problem, as long as there are people who enjoy it.Also, I agree about 4/4 having a high complexity ceiling. Stuff like tech death (Obscura) and progressive metal (Between the Buried and Me), I would rarely recommend to someone with no musical background. I play guitar/piano and write music so I enjoy hearing what other people think of. Interesting points.I enjoy some music based on it's pure technicality.
